Great sound has long been the most economical and efficient way to add high production values to film projects. Clean dialogue communicates all important plot and character points, realistic sound effects create a world that your film’s characters can explore and the way it’s all mixed with music generates the spectacle.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Intensive Film Making - February
In this five day filmmaking intensive, students will get busy in the AFTRS state-of-the-art studio to take a Summer School Week One winning script to screen.

 

 

 

 

 

 Certificate of Audio Engineering 

 

Along with building outstanding technical capability, students acquire a strong foundation in the use of a digital audio workstation, an analogue console and operation of live sound equipment. They begin to develop and apply practical skills relating to microphones, mixing consoles, recording and signal processors. Studio subjects involve an introduction to software based recording systems with an emphasis on editing, arranging and mixing. 

Students are required to record a band using multi microphone techniques, and then overdub other instruments to a multi-track recorder. The theoretical fundamentals of acoustics, electronics, synthesis, sound design and music production underpin the practical elements, adding to the students’ comprehensive understanding and ability to progress to more complex concepts.
